The New Jewish Question: April 2009

Welcome!

Beginning with the Age of Enlightenment and the French Revolution, came the emergence of the "Jewish Question".- the question of the Jewish place within Europe. The question was posed by both Jews and non-Jews- and the answer too came from both. However, the tragedy of the Shoah, and the establishment of the State of Israel seemed to offer Jews the answer to the Jewish question. From here, the idea of the Jewish question simply disapeared. However, in our modern world, Jews are faced with a plethora of new issues and problems, and therefore, are faced with a new Jewish question. Today, we therefore have the opportunity to debate and question new issues relating to Jews, Judaism and Israel. In this blog, I hope to do just that; explore being Jewish in the now.
